About the Urban Indian Health Commission

Partnering with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's largest philanthropy organization devoted to improving health and health care, the UIHI convened the Urban Indian Health Commission, a grouping of experts who merged their scientific, cultural, and policy expertise with the aim to provide outreach and education on urban American Indian and Alaska Native health issues. The Commission is a two year project, which will culminate in November of 2007 with the publication of a report that addresses urban American Indian and Alaska Native health and the specific health topics of diabetes, depression and cardiovascular disease.  The Commission aims to reach multiple audiences, including policy makers, private-funders, researchers, academics, and the general public.
